Public Policy Committee

The Public Policy Committee works to impact public policy on issues of central importance to the Montessori community in the United States. Members communicate with policymakers at local, state, and national levels on matters such as charter schools, universal pre-kindergarten, state recognition of Montessori teaching credentials, standardized testing, daycare licensing, children at risk, and tax exemption for schools.

The committee is also an essential resource for AMS members, keeping them current with brewing legislation and informed about making their voices heard.

The group is actively seeking new members and would like representation from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. To learn more, please contact Michelle Hammons, committee chair.
